Meet “The Returners”

July 2nd, 2009 by kilam0mjaro

THE ORGANIZATION

“We exist as a fundraising group dedicated to raising money for various organizations through the medium of video game marathons streamed live over the Internet. We provide entertainment for our viewers, including a live commentary feed so that they can interact with the members of our group and a method to actively donate. We strive to provide a suitable and courteous environment in which to show that video games are not always as bad as the media might otherwise suggest and to provide people with a place they can come together to watch something they might enjoy while being able to donate to worthy causes and help out the community while enjoying themselves.

THE EVENT

This July 10th, beginning at 5:00pm CST time we are going to be hosting a 72 hour gaming marathon streamed live from our website, http://returnersgaming.blogspot.com to raise money for Child’s Play. Our donation period begins on the 6th and ends on the 20th of July. All donations go directly to Child’s Play without us seeing even one cent of the money raised. Either a credit card or a PayPal account is necessary to donate but assuming people cannot donate they can continue to help us out by spreading the word about the marathon.

This marathon is going to deal with RPGs from the Nintendo 64 era and back. As such no recent games are going to be played during the marathon. Our current roster of games consists of Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy IV, and Final Fantasy IX.”

PRESS RELEASE: TBS Pre PAX Party

May 30th, 2009 by kilam0mjaro

SEATTLE, Washington, May 29, 2009

THE BLUE SKITTLE announced this morning that they will again be holding THE BLUE SKITTLE PRE-PAX PARTY, an annual tradition held on the eve of the PENNY ARCADE EXPO (PAX) which lets attendees enjoy a fun and vibrant atmosphere, interact with members of the gaming industry and community, and get ramped up in preparation for the opening of the PAX Convention Hall the following morning.

Taking place on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009, from 8 P.M until midnight, this year’s event will be hosted at the SEATTLE ROCK BOTTOM RESTAURANT AND BREWERY. Located at 1333 5th Avenue in downtown Seattle, the ROCK BOTTOM BREWERY is conveniently positioned near the heart of PAX, allowing event attendees to easily converge on the location of the evening’s festivities.

After two successful parties in years past headed by Ooopy (Elaine Beemer) and kiki kat (Kiki Lewis), this year’s BLUE SKITTLE PRE-PAX PARTY will feature TRITTON Technologies as their sponsor. TRITTON Technologies is a leading manufacturer of high-end multimedia products and accessories, such as the AXPro and AX 360 headsets, which provide surround sound experiences to gamers and audio enthusiasts alike.

Thanks to the support of TRITTON Technologies, the entirety of the $20 ticket cost will be donated to the CHILD’S PLAY CHARITY. Additionally, as a Thank You to the gaming community for their extensive support, TRITTON will sponsor a premium open bar at the event from 9pm to 11pm.

THE BLUE SKITTLE PRE-PAX PARTY continues to thrive each year, thanks to the dedication, determination, and support of the many gaming websites which lend their aid to the event and its growing scope each year. For the 2009 event, the list of supporting sites and communities reaches an all time high, and includes notable names such as BREAKING THE GAME, GAMERCHIX, GAMERTAG RADIO, Gaming4Others ,SARCASTIC GAMER, SFX-360, and TALKING ABOUT GAMES.

As with previous years, the party will only be accessible to attendees aged 21 or older, with a valid form of photo identification required for entry.

Tickets for THE BLUE SKITTLE PRE-PAX PARTY go on sale the morning of June 22nd, 2009. As with previous years, ticket quantities are available on a first come, first served basis. This year’s party is expected to be another blow out event, with ticket allotments selling out in advance, so make sure to order your tickets early at The Blue Skittle.
